2NE1 is a South Korean Hip Hop/ Pop Girl Group formed by YG Entertainment in 2009. 2NE1 pronounced as "to anyone" or "twenty-one" stands for "New Evolution of the 21st Century". It's members include CL (Lee Chae Rin), Dara (Sandara Park), Bom (Park Bom / Jenny Park) and Minzy (Gong Min Ji). The group first appeared alongside label-mate BIGBANG for a commercial campaign for the new phone "Lollipop" for LG TELECOM. Since then the group has released multiple singles including their numerous hits "Fire", "I Don't Care" "Follow Me" and "Go Away" have all hit number one in South Korea.

The group was first mention by YG Entertainment in 2008 and it was rumored to only have 3 members that would debut sometime in May 2009, but plans was changed when Sanda Park was added as the fourth member. The group's name was initially announced as "21" however due to the discovery of another singer with the same name the group was quickly renamed into "2NE1".

2NE1's first single was Lollipop which they collaborated with label mate BIGBANG for LG TELECOM. It was created to promote their new Cyon Phone. Although it was not promoted as a single the song has reached number one many times on various online music charts.

On April 20, 2009 Yang Hyun Suk revealed that the group will debut with a hip hop/reggae song and that it would be digitally released on May 6, 2009. Teasers of the song were released at the beginning of MAY. Fire was released as planned on May 6, with two versions of the music video a "space" version and a "street" version. The groups first performance of the song was on May 17, 2009 on SBS's Inkigayo marking the groups beginning of activities and entrance to the South Korean Music Industry.

After the promotions were done for their debut single "Fire". 2NE1 yet released another chart topper titled "I Don't Care" It was released on July 1, 2009, along with 2NE1's successes they have signed a deal with Fila to become the new models for their commercial.

Their hit song "I Don't Care" is 2009's Best Selling Song on Music Charts. Although 2009 was named as "Girl Group Year in South Korea" 2NE1 has managed to grab a spot for themselves with many girl groups debuting at the same time. 2NE1 promoted their single "I Don't Care" alongside big names like Super Junior and Girls Generation. 2NE1 was named the Best New Group in 2009 achieving many awards at the end of year.

On September 9, 2010 2NE1 released their first full studio album "To Anyone" and was a big success. The album consists of 12 tracks including three title songs namely "Clap Your Hands", "Go Away" and "Can't Nobody", which were promoted simultaneously. All three title songs has reached number one on music charts overall 2NE1 grabbed 11 first place on all four Music Shows.

On October 31, 2009 Yang Hyun Suk has revealed that the group will have a follow-up promotions with their ballad track "It Hurts". It was first performed at SBS's Inkigayo .The music video was released on November 1 the group going for the hunting/emo look for the Halloween Season.

2NE1 was scheduled to debut on Japan but it was delayed to February 2011. In addition, there are plans to released a new Korean Album around June/July of 2011. On February 22, 2011 Avex (2NE1's Japanese Label) announced that 2NE1 will released their Japanese debut single "Go Away", previously used for promotional Korean Single on March 9, 2011. 2NE1 was planned to have their Japanese Live debut on Music Station, but have since postponed due to the 2011 Tohuko Earthquake. YG Entertainment released a statement saying that 2NE1's Japanese debut will be postponed until Japan gets back up and is stable and has not given any date or month for 2NE1's proper Japanese debut. Rather it was announced that 2NE1 will released their Korean Album earlier than expected from July to as early as April.
