Alice Nine J-Pop Idol
Tagged under J-Pop Idols.
Alice Nine is a Japanese Visual Kei band that was formed in August 2004 and consists of five members: Shou (?) â?? vocals; Hiroto (???) â?? guitar; Tora (?) â?? guitar; Saga (??) â?? bass guitar, backing vocals; and Nao (??) â?? drums. Before forming Alice Nine, Tora and Shou were members of Givuss, Saga was a member of Delta Ark, Nao was the drummer for both Fatima and RusH. Shou, Tora, Saga, and Nao found Hiroto while he was still a member of the band Baquepia. Shou once explained that the "Alice" in the band's name was something that sounded "very visual kei" to them, while the "Nine" is written in kanji and represents their origins as a band.
Alice Nine's musical style is often described as a blend of rock, metal, and pop, with R&B and Dance later on. In the beginning, their sound was filled with more emotionally charged, heavy rock songs. As time went on, the band incorporated more light rock and melodic instrumentation. Initially, the physical appearance of the band was one of a very heavy Visual Kei wardrobe with piercings, makeup, and unusual hair colors. Over time, this look softened and absorbed more of a "street fashion" look, occasionally turning to formal, as with the Tsubasa album.
Arguably, Alice Nine first met with widespread success with their album JEWELS in 2007. They have done three songs for anime series, including "Ikuoku no Chandelier" and "Akatsuki" for the Meine Liebe Wieder anime, and "Cross Game" for the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's anime. Alice Nine has released thirteen singles, and another, "Cross Game" is scheduled for release in December 2008. Their sixth album Vandalize is scheduled for release in January 2009.
