Annie is a member of the 104th Trainees Squad, alongside Eren, Mikasa and Armin. She later joins the Military Police, motivating this through "personal safety". Annie is not very sociable and prefers to observe rather than participate. She has received extensive martial arts training from her father and is very good at both hand-to-hand combat and operating the three-dimensional maneuvering gear, which is why she considers recruit training a waste of time.
