Rated: 6

Manga and anime are looking exactly the same in the presentation, the story hasn’t been changed, the characters are the same of same humour. Because there is 6 episodes, the story has been reduced of course and not in a good way. The first episodes are quite enjoyable to watch, particularly for bastard fans but the following is quite disappointing because of the lack of credibility of the arrangements to the story and the sometimes poor drawing, not as detailed as in the manga.
But the anime is still a good adaptation for the humour, it is a real pleasure to see Dark Schneider insulting his enemies before beating them, scorning this ease the people who see him as a saviour or hiding his true feelings behind a strong and cruel attitude.

This is definitely a guilty pleasure anime, but some of the things about it are too cliched such as in the first episode with the only thing that awaken Dark Schneider is a virgin's kiss. Also, the anime adaptation is too short and didn't go into Kall-Su's character very much and the conflict he has with Dark Schneider, so I feel that a couple of episodes could've been made for that. I think what made me give the series a better score is the arrival of Arshes Nei, she's such a dynamic character as an individual and the relationship she has with Dark. The animation is pretty good for an early 90's anime and I enjoyed the seiyuu performances, especially Kazuki Yao as Dark and Rei Sakuma as Nei. It was an alright series despite its' flaws and it's a pretty good series if you want to check out anime with a primarily adult cast. Dark Schneider himself is also a great example of what an ecchi male lead should be like, not these god-awful ones seen in shows like Highschool DxD and Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero.

This is a fun manga and anime. All of the music references and humor while telling an action/fantasy story get you laughing and thinking. : ) Would really like for the remainder of the manga to be translated to English. :(

I watched the anime and it was fun, but the manga is much better. I love the names of the characters being based on legends of Hard Rock and it made me discover some bands I didn't know about. I own all the published volumes of the manga. Pity it remains unfinished.

I've watched all but the final 6th episode in this retro series. I just can't get the stupid thing to work. It's like watching Conan the Destroyer but He's also a magician. Girls half the time he is walking around and fighting naked the first like 4 episodes. Luckily there is nothing to see great editing if I must say so myself. But It's fun.

I pefer the manga than the anime. The Manga artwork is superb as both characters and backgrounds are very detailed and the action scenes are simply out of this world and a good story to. The anime is too short and ends in a very open way that will drive you nuts for more.
