While visiting a supermarket to buy a bento for his dinner, You Sato is beaten up and left on the floor. Without knowing it, he’s just become part of a battle where both nearby high school and university students fight over discounted food. A fellow student named Sen Yarizui, explains what happened to him and why, then invities him into her club so they can fight to get the food for themselves.

Times are hard, and in these days of global economic crisis and recession more and more people have joined the hunt to find the best bargains. As with anything in life though, experience is what counts, and veterans in the ways of saving money will usually have the upper hand in the war of the aisles. While there are a few young hotshots who have a natural talent for finding a store's bargain products, the truth is that wherever there are discounted groceries, there will undoubtedly be kings and queens who rule over them.

For me was the most original series of the year, not entirely sure where the author got the idea, probably he did the very same in the supermarkets, lol. The only negative side is being a way too short.

I was skeptical about watching this series at first. I was thinking, "a show about lunches? Seriously?" Much to my surprise, I actually really enjoyed this show. Large scale brawls over bargain priced lunches = highly entertaining!

Sato Yo is a high school boy who likes SEGA games. One day, he enters a grocery store to buy some food for dinner. When he tries to take a bento box, he loses consciousness. He comes around to find all the bento sold out. He notices there is a war game going on at grocery stores and players called "Wolves" compete for the half-priced bento. Yarizui Sen, the leader of the Half-Pricer Club, forces Yo to join the club and he enters the bento war.

I have seen the first 5 eps. The reason I like it, is because its about ben-to, but fighting for it sometimes seems to be a bit much. Anyhow, the characters are interesting. Strong leader types, developing into a fighter type, crazy girls etc. Its a pretty cool new series.

If you have never seen how HUNGER can make people fight, then this anime will make sure to show you so. (although that SACRIFICING is better) this anime is all about hungry guys fighting for half priced limited Ben-To (lunch boxes). Serious action anime. Which will bring smile on your face every now and then
