Bento (弁当) is a type of lunch boxin which the food is carefully prepared and can either be stored separately, or
mixed and organized in different, usually elaborate, patterns (rabbits, bows, anime characters - kyaraben etc.).
Bento can be either homemade or bought from convenience stores. It is also considered a form of art, as
parents and students will often compete with each other to see who makes the most appetizing - and creative! - lunch.
Common components of bento are rice, eggs, onigiri, and fish.
