Kwon BoA commonly known as BoA is a South Korean singer active in South Korea, Japan and most recently the United
States.
BoA was discovered by an SM Talent Scout when she came with her brother, initially her brother
was the one who was auditioning, but the Talent Scout took notice of her instead. BoA underwent 2 years of traning
(involving vocal, dance, and learning the Japanese Language) and at the age of 13 she debuted with her first album ID;
Peace B in South Korea on August 25, 2000.
In 2001, she released her very first Japanese Single, the
Japanese version of her Korean Debut song ID; Peace B. The single reached the Top 20 on the Oricon Charts, followed by
Amazing Kiss, Kimochi wa Tsutawaru, and Listen to My Heart the last became BoA's first single to enter the Oricon Charts
Top 5. After the September 11, 2001 attacks BoA sang a duet with Kumi Koda (also from the same Japanese Label Avex Trax)
titled The Meaning of Peace. BoA also sang one of Inuyasha's theme song titled 'Every Heart; Minna no Kimochi'.
From the year she debuted 2000 till the year of 2005, BoA was focused on her career at both South Korea and
Japan, but at the beginning of the year 2006, BoA took a break from the Korean Music Industry and focused only on her
career in Japan. In the year 2008 SM Entertainment announced BoA's forray in the United States. On October 21, 2008 BoA
debut American Single titled 'Eat You Up' was released. Eat You Up also has another version where Flo Rida had a rap
part on the song. Eat You Up became a number one breakout on the Hot Dance Club Play chart.
On October
2009, BoA came back in the Japanese Music Market releasing a new single titled 'Bump, Bump' which features label-mate
M-Flo. Her seventh Japanese Album 'Identity' was released on February 10, 2010.
On March 1, 2010 SM
Entertainment announced BoA comeback in South Korea to celebrate her 10th debut anniversary which was on August 25, 2010
and has released her 6th full length Korean Album five years after Girls on Top album in 2005.
On August
2, 2010 BoA made her comeback in the Korean Music Industry by released her album titled 'Hurricane Venus'.
