Doujinshi Source
Tagged under Source Materials, Japanese Terms.
As a business term, "doujinshi" refers to published fan art made by (aspiring) mangaka (同人家, doujinka). In common language, it is sometimes used to loosely refer to
artwork done by fans of a particular franchise.
Doujinka are often not officially associated with
the original creators of the works they are using in their doujinshi. However, if a doujinka happens to
work on both the official material and unofficial doujinshi, the latter may or may not be considered canon by the
fan community.
Common topics of doujinshi are alternate pairings, alternate universe
interpretations of canon material, "what ifs", and unofficial expansions of the canon universe.
Not to be
confused with Member Art.
