Eddard "Ned" Stark is the Lord of Winterfell, of the Northern area of Westeros, and close friend of Robert Baratheon, the current reigning king of Westeros. He is a just ruler with strong morals, but his refusal to compromise on them in any way proves to be his undoing after he goes to King's Landing and uncovers the affair between Jaime and Cersei Lannister and the fact that Joffrey, Tommen and Myrcella weren't actually related to Robert. Ned has six children, one of whom is the bastard Jon Snow.
