A futon is a type of traditional Japanese bedding typically comprised of mattresses and quilts placed directly on the
floor. These are folded and stored in a closet during the day to free up space in the room and allow it to be used for
other purposes besides being a bedroom.
Futons can be accompanied by pillows or slept in as-is.
