I truly enjoyed this animated Sci-Fi series. The action is good and the mechanical designs are impressive. Most of the characters are relatable with their troubled pasts and individual personality flaws. Yellow happens to be my personal favorite; active as both a freedom-fighter and crossdressing pop idol, the character seems quite progressive for a mid-80s Japanese animation. Most of all, the soundtrack is just amazing, especially with the OVA sequel "Love, Live, Alive." Despite the lack of any new action, it concludes the series with a very sweet ending.
This was a pretty "meh" anime series in its' original format; Mint was a rather annoying character made worse with the bad choice in the seiyuu who voiced her, Yellow's songs weren't that great, and overall was rather dull...however the Robotech version of this anime was much better, especially in terms of Yellow's songs and aside from the mis-representation of Protoculture, it was more entertaining than the original.
