Kurumi Akino works hard in order to support her sick mother and two younger brothers. While returning home from a late night shift, she bumps into a man who is being chased by someone. He threatens her to keep quiet, but collapses after the people following him leave. After taking him to her house and bandaging his wounds, Kurumi learns that his name is Hakuron, only to pass out from the sleeping pill he had slipped her. The next day, she awakes to find he is gone.

But her adventures are just beginning, as Hakuron kidnaps her and takes her to Hong Kong, revealing himself to be the leader of a mafia group, and refusing to let her go home. From then on, Kurumi must stand up for herself and face numerous challenges in the mafia world as Hakuron's unwilling mistress.

Although Haou Airen is slightly more realistic than Mayu Shinjo's other works, it still suffers from a lot of clichés and heavy-handedness, requiring HEAVY suspension of disbelief and a love for pushy, mentally abusive male leads. Unsurprisingly, female protagonist Kurumi is as dumb, irrational and spineless as any other Mayu Shinjo lead, and all the hot guys still want to pork her. The art is clean and the characters attractive (especially the guys), but that still doesn't redeem this trainwreck. This manga felt like reading about a domestic abuse victim who recognizes herself as such and STILL makes excuses for the abuser. Urgh, avoid unless you like to torture yourself — and not in the good way.

Spin-Off of Kaikan Phrase & Love Celeb. A great manga once again, the only thing that should be pointed out is the dumb girl character as usual. The art of Mayu Shinjo is something that should be praise. Her storyline are amazing and detailed to the very point. Recommended to manga readers out there -WARNING: AGE 18+
