Harry leads a normal, if boring life...if "normal" and "boring" translated to him being treated as if his mere existence is a nuisance. On his 11th birthday, Harry is visited by an unusual messenger, who informs him that not only is Harry a wizard, but that he has been accepted at Hogwarts, the famous School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!

This is not all he finds out, though: his parents were actually killed by a powerful Dark Wizard, but the same curse that killed them mysteriourly backfired and Voldemort disappeared, leaving Harry an orphan who was begrudgingly taken in and raised by the family of his mother's sister. Since he is the sole survivor of the infamous Avada Kedavra curse, Harry is considered a celebrity in the wizarding world, which brings about both perks and downsides (such as others trying to get close to him to profit from his fame). During the series, Harry meets both close friends and dangerous enemies, goes through life-threatening battles, and learns more about himself and his sworn enemy, Voldemort.

Each of the seven books was adapted into a movie, with the 7th being split into two movies. 'The Cursed Child' premiered on stage in 2016 and, despite not being written by J.K.Rowling herself, has been sanctioned as part of the official canon by her. So far, 'Cursed Child' is only available as a stage play and screenplay.

Well damn, this is Harry Potter we're talking about, not like it needs any explanation! Growing up with it, it was and still remains a series that always sucks me in at the drop of a hat, and it takes surprisingly little time to read all the books again. Give it a chance and you honestly won't be disappointed.
