Hitomi is the close friend and classmate of Madoka Kaname and Sayaka Miki. After Madoka and Sayaka learn of the existence of magical girls and begin spending more time with Mami Tomoe (without Hitomi's knowledge), Hitomi mistakenly believes that the two are involved romantically with each other; her bursts of concern for her friends and jealousy at being left out are used to comedic effect. Hitomi comes from a rich family and, aside from being an honors student, attends numerous extracurricular activities such as piano, traditional Japanese dancing and tea ceremony classes.
