Gelus Character

A shinigami who falls in love with Misa Amane after watching her for some time. When it's time for Misa to die, Gelus writes the name of her attacker in his Death Note, thereby saving Misa's life and also lengthening it. However, becoming emotionally attached to a human and extending their life past their normal lifespan is against the shinigami rules, so this leads to Gelus's death. Rem, having watched all this, picks up his notebook and gives it to Misa.
