Series that want to be everything to everyone are a dime a dozen, but the ones that can actually do everything - action, intrigue, light humor, misty-eyed drama, and even hints of romance - in a single first episode without breaking a sweat and look good in the process are considerably more valuable than that, and that certainly holds true with Kure-nai. One may have to muddle through some weak feel at early episodes, but the late pay-off will certainly be worth it.
Sometimes humorous, occasionally extreme, and nearly always fun, the warm relationship of the two main leads and voluminous casting, combined with strong voice acting, animation, and musical score, make this one of the year's best series.

Loved this series! There's something about a modern day samurai that has no idea of what modern day looks like. You know there is going to be some funny moments when this guy arrives in the city from being secluded in the woods for training all his life. Many awkward moments lead to many hilarious moments. (I thought the beach episode was funny as heck!)
the arts involved very different from what a typical anime would look like. quiet like it. story interesting and developed. taboo topic about incest gave it certain depth. main leads relationship all fascinating. the ova that came out this year explained a bit more. overall enjoyable.
