Lelouch was a prince until the day his mother was murdered; his little sister Nunnally became paralyzed and blinded. Now in high school, he's bored with life, playing chess with rich aristocrats to stave off boredom while caring for Nunnally. One day, he meets a mysterious woman named C.C. who offers him power through a contract which he accepts; C.C told him that this power is called "Geass" and it can forcibly make other people obey his command with eye contact. With this new found power, he adorns a mask calling himself Zero. He then begins to gather warriors calling themselves the Black Knights, with the ultimate goal to overthrow Britannia and recreate a perfect utopia where his sister can live a life of peace.

R2 is a direct sequel to the main series. Lelouch is back to his old ways of playing chess with aristocrats, his life and memories of being Zero suppressed and his sister Nunnally somehow replaced with a brother named Rolo. A year later, C.C. finds him and is able to restore his memories and his power. Remembering who he really is, he's determined to get back to doing what he'd started a year ago as well as find out what happen to his sister!

Code Geass is an anime that I recommend all the way. Anyone can get into it. It's very touching and remarkable. It's not my favorite anime, by far, but it's up there. Please watch.

This series blew my mind by how it good it was. It was the first time I had seen such a developed protagonist. The geniusness of this series doesn't portray his actions as good or bad. Just a man who wants to try to make his world a better place that he'd shake heaven and earth to do so. Excellent watch. Would recommend.

Watching Code Geass as a seasoned anime fan helped me appreciate this series more than when it debuted and I can positively say now that the creative staff made a memorable series whose popularity is well deserved and much better than Gundam SEED & 00. Geass serves as a double edged sword to Lelouch as he is able to conquer over Britannia in short amount of time that would’ve taken many years without it, but as a consequence it affects the relationships he has with those closest to him. Kallen is best girl because as an individual she is strong-willed, loyal to those closest to her, fights for what she believes in, and passionate in her endeavors. The best girl for Lelouch is C.C. because she has the best chemistry with him, they understand one another really well, and their connection to one another felt real. I didn't like Rolo, there was nothing sympathetic about his character. The voice acting was good, would've preferred Akio Ohtsuka as Charles and Masaya Onosaka as Lloyd in the Japanese dub and Melissa Fahn as Nunnally in the English dub. I don’t like the second OP song in the first season, it wasn’t that good. R2 had great songs and the best songs were those by FLOW and Orange Range.

I don't like they made an alternate continuity movie series though, especially with a new movie that feels too much like fan-fiction material. Something much better would be like how The Origin is for Gundam with the narrative detailing events preceding Britannia's declaration of war on Japan, during the war, the aftermath when Japan becomes Area 11, and the rise of the resistance movement in Area 11 leading up to where the original series begins. It would also serve a purpose in rounding out primary characters such as Lelouch, Suzaku, and Kallen in building the basis and the drive in the respective paths they embark on in the original series.

AWESOME! The best anime I've ever seen!! Lelouch Lamperouge gets the power of absolute command from a mysterious girl named C.C., and decides to fight the Holy Britannian Empire, which ruled over most of the world with an iron fist, to create a peaceful world for his sister. The events follow each other at an incessant rhythm, with a thousand twists; the characters are many and memorable, the main character most of all: his plans are always complicated but perfectly logical, and his personality and character seem to change completely when he becomes Zero, his theatrical alter-ego. The musics, including openings and endings, are beautiful, the graphics are wonderful and the dubbing perfect. The end is great, brilliant, even if shocking.

LELOUCH LAMPEROUGE: "If the king doesn’t lead, how can he expect his subordinates to follow?"
