One of the most intelligent pieces of fiction I have encountered in all my life, and I have read A LOT; from regular fiction and philosophical fiction, Arabic, Persian, Indian, English, Russian, Polish, German, Chinese, Korean, & Japanese, across multiple genres and work from different eras; despite that this has come amongst the top.
The best part about it is that it is very easy to read and understand. WHILE being easy its exciting and fun to read and you learn things without even realizing or wanting to. The story in itself manages to very excellently execute multi-tier scale and depth of story in the macro and micro sense and also some in the middle; all while not putting strain on the reader.
Its also managed to have very creative ways of naming characters... of which I think is marvelous
With each and every character being filled with depth. It also manages to be very progressive in nature, with actually forgoing most of the negative female tropes, and or racist tropes which in this case rather than other race from color/ethnicity would translate into quite literally non-humans. Not only are those aspects forgone but they are also in many aspects combated. All this while in the guise of a nice easy read.
A lot of the plot and world mechanics being are very creative and original, and very well executed.
The romance is also not bad... although it can be slightly frustrating in many moments especially when it becomes quasi-haremy with the hero taking full advantage of it at moments.. although later on its a 1on1 focus
There is a lot more to say but I think it'll become a long positive rant, so ill leave at this summary of my feelings
its wonderful overall

There were so many things involved in this series that I feel compacting it all in within the 12 episodes didn't allow the numerous elements to flow naturally and it would've if it had been a 24 episode series to give the series the story development that it needed. The chemistry between Maou and Yuusha was good and they looked cute together, but I feel it was hampered by the love triangle element and this is one series I wish didn't have it...especially if blocks progression of a relationship. Animation was rather simple and not detailed that much, if the animation production had been done either by Madhouse or Satelight for this series the details in the quality of the animation would look more refined. Maid Ane's development as a character was impressive and I think she was the character who had the best progression.

I think if they focused more on the war between the humans and demons specifically, it would be much better. I think the dialogue is very long-winded. Not as good as I thought it would be, but Maou was pretty. And her relationship with Yuusha was cute and brought some funny moments. Wish Onna Kishi got a bit more attention though.

Interesting. I mean, the cool voice hardly fit that baby-face hero, the Demon King (Queen) has a cliché ero-physique and the props are no different from the other gazillion fantasy anime series, HOWEVER... The main speech do have a lot of valid points: the interests behind wars, the falacious and manichaean misconception of good and evil, right and wrong... It may well be worthy of watching completely.

This was the first of the Winter 2013 anime i started watching. It's like a funnier, dirtier Spice and Wolf. I don't really know how to describe it. I probably won't watch it every week though. It was my favorite going into the rest but now I prefer Tamako Market and Kotoura-san right now. Its sort of a been here-done that kind of anime. I'll watch the rest all together because I don't anticipate watching it week after week.

Maoyuu Maou Yuusha. It's all about an ongoing war between the demons and the humans where our protagonist and the demon king (she's a girl BTW, we can't help it, its a title)..... Episode 1 introduced what's happening in the story and the two of them (protagonist and the "demon king") made a contract... Its very interesting... I think i'll read the manga! :D
