Rated: 6

This is a Review of Mobile Fighter G Gundam
The embodiment of cheesiness , the embodiment of frightening amount of cheesiness , the very concentration which can make your hair stand on it's ends in utter manly embarrassment is none other than G Gundam!
Well , G Gundam is perhaps off the list of most Gundam fans owing to it's incredibly cheesy storyline and concept ( It's literally coated with cheese... and the fillings are cheese , too ) .
The more I look at this Anime , I seriously wonder what BANDAI was up to.
Gundam was filled with epic storylines , deep warfares , undeniable rivalries , sacrifices and pain.... and there we have it , something that sticks out like a sore thumb,
But in some ways , it is a very enjoyable "sore thumb" we'r talking about here.

A decent shout out to classic super robot anime with Go Nagai like hairstyles and hot blooded characters. Another series in similar vein, Martian Successor Nadesico as a shout out to classic 70's style anime was better. The feels get heavy in Eps. 44-45 and I can honestly say this was an anime that made me cry in those two episodes alone. The best characters in this series were Master Asia, Schwarz Bruder, and Kyoji Kasshu. I hate Prime Minister Wong, he's a one-dimensional antagonist who felt like the lame baddie you'd see in a Saturday morning cartoon and he was an annoying prick. I got more kicks out of Transformers' Starscream and He-Man's Skeletor than I ever did with Wong. The female cast of this series weren't that interesting and were bland characters who didn't really stand out to me. The ending fell flat with the cliche "power of love", was the Nakama Power not enough? I was never invested in Domon & Rain as a couple and they're one my least favorites in anime.

Some have regarded this particular title as one of the ... For me this was literally a match made in heaven: The franchise of Gundam combined with the then-booming genre of martial-arts Shonen! It's got battles, rivals, betrayal, love, sacrifice and super-powerful signiture moves and testosterone-inducing catch-phrases!!! Everything a guy loves!!! ^__^

*sobs* So manly, so utterly cheesy that I can't help but adore. I mean, seriously - cutting through a gundam with a head band? I just want to know how that idea was pitched when they were animating: "Okay guys, how about this...? A gundam, now- stay with me, is ripped apart... by a head band! I know what you're thinking, did I smoke one ounce of marijuana or two? Well to be honest, after the first ecstasy pill I've forgotten myself. So you have to ask yourself one question: do you want to animate this? Well do ya', punk?"

Beside that, there's epic battle speeches (BURNING FINGER!), hit-or-miss character design, over the top battle sequences, and sub-par English voice acting - what's not to love? Well, maybe a lot. Still, I have to admit - even today I love this anime; but it's understandable why some won't.

In my opinion, the best from the best from the Gundam universe, even though the plot could have been better. The mechs acquire certain charisma that makes them semi-characters unlike any other Gundam series, and the martial-arts theme is presented in a very cool way
