Overall I would have to say this was quite a tough one to follow. There was just too many time jumps for me to keep track of their space adventures at times. I actually found myself pausing and rewinding in places, trying to figure out if my dvd player had skipped a scene or something. I would state this anime, not the one that debuted on cartoon network in the edited style, is seriously not for the faint of heart. If ecchi, mature scenes, cussing, detailed battle scenes and perverted characters disturb you, then it's best to avoid this one. I would consider this one to be watched by audiences mature enough to handle such things, I wouldn't set my niece down in front of this one and watch it with her without a doubt.

A great, action and adventure packed series and an enjoyable watch. Alongside Cowboy Bebop and Gasaraki, all three Sunrise produced series premiered in the year 1998 and it was a great year for anime. The animation is splendid with beautifully designed characters and a great soundtrack with songs sung by Masahiko Arimacni and Akino Arai. The series is also the debut of seiyuu Ayako Kawasumi with her lead role as Melfina.

Too bad they didn't come out with a second series! The mix of semi bizarre characters was most certainly interesting to watch. You do wonder just how they can manage to get into so much s**t at once. An I have to say that I very much enjoyed the one episode they didn't air on public tv.

Although this is often seen as one of the older series, I still believe it's worth watching today. It borders a gundum series, but it's mostly action and fighting for survival with the touch of heroisim added to it as well. Graphics are good, dubbed version is good, and plot is good.
