Peter Pan Syndrome Series
Tagged under Mayu Sakai, Series.
12-year-old Kahoko has an unusual ability: she can fly and move objects with her mind! However, she can only use her
powers after sunset, so she spends most of her nights secretly looking for her missing mother with the aid of her
talking cat companion, Wendy. After moving to a new town and right on the day before starting junior high, Kohaku loses
her phone on one of her nightly escapades.
The next day, Kahoko tries to save someone from getting
bullied but the accidentally falls directly on top of the local gang leader, Yuuro. While he berates Kahoko for her
intrusive attitude, his brother, Kyouri, takes an instant liking to her. While him and Yuuro are talking, Kahoko
discovers Yuuro has her phone, so she sets out on a mission to get it back...which proves to be quite the challenge for
her, as Yuuro keeps pushing her away.

It's a cute story and an interesting take on the Peter Pan mythos, with a female lead and little reference to PP (aside from the nature of Kahoko's powers and some small hints I won't give away). Kahoko herself is quite a strong and independent lead for a 12-year-old and I wasn't bored at all when reading about her. The other main characters, Yuuro and Kyouri, are quite dull in comparison, though, and not nearly as well-rounded as her character is.
The art's also what you'd expect from shoujo, with characters sporting huge, bright eyes and even bigger smiles most of the time; there are a lot of sparkly screentones as well, which tired my eyes after a while, but the "main" art is generally clean. The only complaint I have in regards to the art is that absolutely all the characters look very young (pre-teenish), even the adults (Kahoko's dad looks like he could be her classmate!).
