XxKurumi's Porco Rosso Tv Review

Rated: 9

Overall, despite Disney's dubbing, Porco Rosso, is in my opinion one of Ghibli's greatest achievements (on par with Mononoke-hime and Totoro). Although I hate to discredit other opinions, I was distraught to see many people found this film boring, wasteful, and rather dull. I will say with confidence that those who believe such things have either been dissatisfied with the English voicing and never have seen it in the original format or have simply been too lazy to look beneath the surface. Porco is simply not a pig because he floated in the sky; his outsides, literally, reflect his frank disposition. Honesty, if you fail to see the magic in this film perhaps you should view it again.

One of my favorite Miyazaki movies. ^^ The story is so cute and I love the characters in it. I think Miyazaki made this movie for short airplane rides for businessmen, so that's why the storyline is pretty mature compared to his other films. I remember him saying how he didn't know why this movie was so popular for children since he didn't make it for children, but I think it's because of the characters and how funny they are. lol This cast is really funny, and the situations just make it funnier. XD Seriously, that brawl at the end was just hilarious. lol

great cinemactic effect. love the songs and sound effects. seiyuu strong performance. this anime is highly re-watchable. love the main's plane. wanted one of that model plane. despite not explaining why porco turned himself to a pig (mentioned but vague), this character was highly developed and so were many others.
