This film is one of my favourite animes of all time and mainly because of the artwork, the story, the music and the realisticness of the characters and the world that they live in. There is plenty of action, emotion, plot, settings and colourful characters who all have their own motives in the great war between Irontown and the Mononoke but there isn't much of humour so if you are looking for a comedy, this is the wrong place to look. I would recommend this film to anyone who is interested in animations, a good story or an emotional plot.

In how I would rank this film in the Miyazaki films I have seen, this would be 5th place as I believe Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind is the best of his works followed by Castle in the Sky, The Wind Rises, and Spirited Away. The standout characters in Princess Mononoke for me would be Ashitaka and Eboshi as far as their characterizations in the movie and how they develop. I wasn't that thrilled with San to be honest as her character development wasn't that strong, nor did she have the charm of Miyazaki heroines like Nausicaa, Sheeta, and Chihiro.
One of my favorite Ghibli. I watched it countless times without getting tired of it. San and Ashitaka are really good characters and I love their relationship (the end of the movie just kill me but I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one). The movie is violent but very poetic too. Musics are trully beautiful and I can listen them for hours.
Interesting Plot about animal spirits n humans in conflict/war. Not as great as Spirited Away, though. but still great. I like the song. so relaxing. Ashitaka, the main character, is a good-boy/man. He tried hard for both human n spirit to be in peace.
I really don't know what to say about this movie. Probably because it's exceeds my expectation and I've
never watch something like this.
I really like the movie, and I never got tired from watching it again and again.
Another masterpiece of Miyazaki-sensei. It is simply beautiful. The best thing about this anime is definitely the moral
of the story. It reflects how nature retaliates when humans become too carried away in exploiting her. It shows the
impossible balance between developing human civilisation and conserving natural resources. It raises difficult questions
like is Princess Mononoke's way of living really the best? Can the people in the iron-producing village really be
blamed? In a nutshell, "Princess Mononoke" teaches us a lesson that mankind has yet to learn.
The theme song is ethereally breathtaking. Brilliant art, as expected of Miyazaki-sensei. I'm just a teeny bit
disappointed with the relationship between Ashitaka and Princess Mononoke. It seems rather underdeveloped. But
nonetheless, it is a must-watch :)
I enjoy a lot of his films, but by far this is my favorite Miyazaki film, beautiful story with an environmental theme. It brings up a constant struggle that is faced in this world: man vs. nature. The plot gives you something to think about. It also brings to light a lot of things we as humans do to harm nature, how by doing so that we are also harming ourselves, and the consequences all our actions have. As well as how much we can take nature for granted. This is one of the few films that I can watch subbed or dubbed because both casts are awesome. This film also has one of my favorite soundtracks of the Miyazaki films. The score is epic sounding and beautiful.
Probably one of the most violent Miyazaki films. I remember the first thing I thought of when I watched this movie was "is that a male main character?" lol It was really cool to see that since almost all of his movie revolve around women. The animation in this movie was really cool too. ^^ It seems so different from his other works and he's never done it again. Anyway, it's a really good movie.
What really got me about this movie was the lack of black-and-white good-and-evil. Although I usually see the world in black and white, this movie proved that both can happen and developed its story well. Also, I want a crack casper.
A timeless action packed anime with an outstanding storyline. It's characters were so well portrayed that you can't help but wonder if they were based off of real people. It's got such a wonderful romantic side as well, not mushy, but romantic enough to give it depth. I can watch this over and over again and never get sick of it. I have so many memories watching it when I was younger and so many more watching it with people I know now who have never seen it before. It is an anime I will NEVER forget! I used to pretend animals could talk and anything could happen. I was really young then, about 4 or 5. So later, when I saw Princess Mononoke, I could connect deeply with it.
Awesome movie! Great storyline with a great meaning behind it, just like all of Hayao Miyazaki's movies...
The animation is great as always, and the background music really benefits to the movie. The characters are lovable, I
grew attached instantly. A lost societys Prince poisoned by a demon...its just so dang cool! Haha
I love Studio Ghibil. Their works are awesome and unforgettable!!! This is a movie to watch whenever. I loved it was a child and still do!! <3 I love the messages that are given throughout the movie. The art is wonderful!
pretty good. environmental theme clear and easily understood. some say this ain't as good as before, i think it's at least equal previous works. artworks smooth and shifted towards more like an anime. characters developed in a rational fashion. felt very complete.
This is my favourite Studio Ghibli's movie. I saw it when I was very young, but I loved it anyways. It's one of my favourite films ever. I loved the plot and the characters too ^^What can I do? I simply love wolves and Nature, so it's a perfect movie for me.
By far my favorite Miyazaki film... beautiful story with an environmental theme. This is one of the few films that I can watch subbed OR dubbed because both casts are stellar. This film also has one of my favorite soundtracks of the Miyazaki films. The score is epic sounding and beautiful.
Borrowed this from a friend, and wish I didn't have to return it... It was amazing. Great story, that somehow using (in my opinion) overused and cliche plot paths, made a movie that I thoroughly enjoyed (I did not notice anything cliche about it till I started writing this). Will have to find this movie somewhere and purchase. It's will be worth a re watch later this year, with some friends.
