MapleRose's Samurai 7 Tv Review

Rated: 8

I did enjoy this anime. Once again, GONZO did a good job in adapting something and make it special on its own. I was mostly impressed with the setting: the way the futuristic and medieval are meshed together in such a unique way. The story itself is enjoyable and suspenseful, other than the slight gap between two subplots. The characters are for the most part, likable, though not the most memorable for me in anime.

If you like samurai and meccha with lots of action, you'll like this anime.

I hated the steampunk theme of the anime and the tacked on original characters who don't do anything for me, they were pretty useless to the overall narrative. I feel it should've been a pure historical drama set in the feudal era of the original movie with a similar feel to Rurouni Kenshin Tsuiokuhen. I believe when it comes to adapting legendary movies like Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai, I think it's important to keep true to the original narrative and themes that were presented. I don't like what they did with Kikuchiyo's character in the anime; like making him a steampunk version of a cyborg and took out the special nuances of Mifune's Kikuchiyo. Also, I think the anime version of Kyuzo lacked the inner warmth that Miyaguchi's Kyuzo portrayed. The music and songs were pretty good though.

AWESOME!!!!!! That's what I can say about this anime all the 7 samurai are awesome in their own way. I really like Kambe he's quite the leader and not to mention Kyuzo he is just bloody cool. Darn that tsukishiro for killing him.

To be honest the show didn't really seem to capture my attention. It just didn't seem interesting. The more I watched the show and got deeper into the series I happened to like and but I personally thought that some of the charaters were poorly done due to there weird faces ( Mainly the people in Kana village XD ) besides that the overal story was cool and it had some neat plot twists towards the end half of the show like in episodes 25: The Last Battle and in episode 26: End of an Era. Personally I wasn't to happy when my favorite chareter died :( ( can't remember his name, but he had blonde hair and didn't talk much lol, but he kicked but! ) Otherwise I thought the show was good and wouldn't mind a second season of it.

I usually don't like mecha animes. But this one is different. I really like it. I loved the character development, especially of Katsushiro. But my favourite character will always be Kyuzo. :)
The OST is amazing. Both the opening and ending themes are one of my favourite anime songs ever.
I've also seen Akira Kurosawa's movie where the series is based on. Of course some parts are completely different but it's interesting to notice the similarities, not only at the story-line but also in some of the scenes.

I can't really describe this one, it's definitely unique. With cloning in feudal style living and jiant machines, this series keeps you guessing. It's really good, but It's a lot to bend your brain around. That kind of thing, is what I like about it. It makes you pay more attention to details since it's got a lot in it. And, the characters each have their side stories are so well done that I felt as though I was actually living the anime rather than watching it. It just drags you in.

I have not seen the original Kurosawa film that this anime adaptation is based upon, but from what I've read, the writers for the anime tried to keep the characters' personalities similar. I really liked the character designs (Especially Heihachi and Kyuzo), though the seemingly forced romance between Kirara and Kanbei was kinda weird.

I haven't watch it completely, but it sure had awesome OP and ED song.
People keep on saying that ' you'll regret it if you watch it till the last episode'. Hah, the wonderful thing about spoilers. They prepared you for something shocking.
I'm going to finish it sooner or later thou, depending on the my internet access. xD

A very, very awesome take on an old classic! God do I love this ONE! The STORY and CHARACTERS are fantastic! Both the 2D animation and the CG are spectacularly done! I have to admit one of my favorite scene is where the villages are in a barn talking to each other. The play of shadows upon everyone's face was fabulously done!

Ok, but you know what happens in the end when you have seen the first few episodes.
The story is actually quite different then all other series. It's about a poor village who grow rice on their lands. They get robbed by bandits in robots. They send out three people from the village to find 7 Samurai to fight the battle against the bandits who have a connection with an empire.

Yay! I am watching it again, this time, Japanese dubbed and English subbed.

I have watched it for the first time when it was shown locally, in its VERY EARLY Saturday/Sunday morning timeslot. But, hey, waking up early to watch Samurai 7 is worth it. And of course, I will finish watching this again.

I really liked this Anime. It had nice action & the story progressed smoothly. I didn't even know know it was made after a movie! Lol! When I finished watching it I immediately went out & rented the original movie (back from the 1950's) It was good too! Lol!
