The Master of Potions at Hogwarts, Snape harbors a deep antipathy towards Harry Potter, mostly because of his unpleasant history with Harry's father, James (who used to pick on him all the time when they were students).
As the head of the Slytherin House, he displays preference towards his own students and eagerly penalizes other Houses
(especially Gryffindor). Young Snape is shown to be an outcast among the other students at Hogwarts, holding prejudiced
views towards non-pureblood wizards. In spite of this, he is highly intelligent and has even created spells on his
own.
