Silent Mobius is a good anime to see if you're looking for a series with strong, young women who aren't sexualized in any way and treated like visual objects for fanservice-oriented otaku. The story runs along serious lines as one of the heroines of the series, Katsumi Liqueir is a young woman who is multi-faceted as she is faced with either being a powerful ally for her comrades, or their greatest enemy. Katsumi's power is sought by the Lucifer Hawk, the antagonists of the series and want her as their ally. The art of the two movies is incredibly beautiful for an early 90's production, but the story is fleshed out more in the TV series. The TV series could've been more faithful to the designs of the movies though as certain areas lacked consistancy.
