Teru appears in season 2 as an ally of Kira. He is even more fanatical than Misa Amane, refers to Kira as "kami" (God), and interprets Kira's wishes without even needing to speak to him, to the point that Kira considers him "worthy of being (his) right hand". Displaying a strong sense of justice since childhood, and being both witness and victim of bullying, led to Teru later forming a black-and-white view of society and working as a criminal prosecutor. This extreme way of thinking displeases Light Yagami, especially when Teru (as Kira) publicly voices the desire to also kill those who, in his view, don't contribute to society.

Teru recruits Kiyomi Takada as the new "voice of Kira".
