The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi Series
Tagged under Noizi Ito, Kyoto Animation, Series.
Haruhi Suzumiya is a beautiful first year high school student who is smart, who is athletic, and who won't turn down any guy who asks her out. The problem is that she isn't interested in anyone or anything who isn't an alien, time traveller, slider, or esper (and as such no guy has lasted for more than a week with her), and when she realizes that none of the clubs at school cater to her highly eccentric tastes, she drafts her classmate, Kyon (the narrator and voice of reason) and forms the "Suzumiya Haruki's Save our World by Overloading it with Fun Brigade" (the S.O.S. Brigade for short). Nobody quite knows what the club does other than to satisfy the whims of Haruhi, but it is becoming evident that there is more to Haruhi than it seems, and that there may be more truth to her delusional beliefs than reason would leave most to believe.

Rated:
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is an original show with an original premise and painfully unoriginal humor, despite the fact that it presents itself as a comedy. Considering that the series revolves around the supernatural, the sky was the limit in terms of originality and possibility. Actually, not even the sky was the limit-provided the creators had the originality, anything was possible for Kyon and his friends-which just makes it that much more depressing that the series settles for fan-service humor and filler episodes such as the typical baseball outing without providing enough of a twist to make them memorable.

It was interesting, mainly because of Nagato but the Endless Eight killed it for me. I expected it to have a better answer to the non-stop summer. I wouldn't say this was a series I'd like to see over again. But I gave it a shot and actually didn't drop.
xChibiSakura rated 7.50:God, this must one of the most confusing animes ever =w=;; The storyline is super weird as well as the characters (one is an alien, the other from the future and the third is an ESPEC). The story is kind of funny but sometimes it turns really complicated. And there are also those "Endless Eight" episodes, that were really annoying to go through =w=; This is one of the animes that I don't understand why they're so popular.
SolemnSerpent rated 6.75:I never thought I'd enjoy it as much as I did- but I was proven wrong. Haruhi makes you want to kill yourself though, at times. She can be an unlikable character and an annoying moron who abuses others, but the general idea of the plot is what drew many in and held them in place. The show is decent, and maybe not worth the hype, but it's enjoyable nonetheless.
Taavi rated 9.00:Sometimes I wonder why I like the series so much. Is it due to the awesome movie adaption or maybe the unwaveringly insane main character? But what I do know is that it impressed me. The movie left even a deeper feeling of satisfaction hidden in subtle nuances. The combination of a crazy plot and excellent production quality does the trick.
mikeb23 rated 9.00:this show is a solidly good anime and is in a genre all its own. I like the fact that you could watch in multiple orders and im probably going to go back and rewatch it in the other order. The series had me busting out laughing many times because of either Haruhi's absurd plans ut of boredom or Kyon's "I dont give a f***" attitude. Overall, everyone should at least watch the first season and do not turn away from the series because of the first episode which will leave you saying WTF. If season two lives up to the first or succeeds this show would get a 10.
