The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi Series
Tagged under Noizi Ito, Kyoto Animation, Series, Light Novel.
Haruhi Suzumiya is a beautiful first year high school student who is
smart, athletic, and won't turn down any guy who asks her out. The problem is that she isn't interested in anyone or
anything who isn't an alien, time traveler, slider, or ESPer - as such no guy has lasted for more than a week with her.
When she realizes that none of the clubs at school cater to her highly eccentric tastes, she drafts her
classmate, Kyon (the narrator and voice of reason) and forms the "Suzumiya
Haruhi's Save our World by Overloading it with Fun" Brigade (the S.O.S. Brigade for short). Nobody quite knows what the
club does other than to satisfy the whims of Haruhi, but it is becoming evident that there is more to Haruhi than it
seems, and that there may be more truth to her delusional beliefs than reason would leave most to believe.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is an original show with an original premise and painfully unoriginal humor, despite the fact that it presents itself as a comedy. Considering that the series revolves around the supernatural, the sky was the limit in terms of originality and possibility. Actually, not even the sky was the limit-provided the creators had the originality, anything was possible for Kyon and his friends-which just makes it that much more depressing that the series settles for fan-service humor and filler episodes such as the typical baseball outing without providing enough of a twist to make them memorable.

10/10 mind bending story. I watched Suzumiya Haruhi when I was very young, in fact, my partner introduced it to me when we first started dating (this was 10 yrs ago now) and I quickly fell in love with it. It really grips you by the heart, keeps you on the edge of your seat and makes you ask questions at every turn. This is a classic in my opinion and I recommend it to everyone!
A fun watch to perk you up with an interesting take on a silce of life anime, definitely worth watching it in chronological order rather than the production order. In regards to Endless Eight and if you like completing shows, then don't try to marathon Haruhi S2, considering E8 is often a headache to go through. If you don't want to watch all the E8 eps., then only watch the first two and then the last. It probably would've been interesting if E8 eps. 2-7 used different VA's to voice the main characters to make it less annoying to watch through. I truly loved the movie and it is definitely the best of the anime productions of the Haruhi-verse, I loved the Kyon/Yuki moments and I feel deep down, Yuki loves Kyon and vice versa and I love them together. The spinoff is so fun to watch, especially since Asakura and Tsuruya are more involved than they were in the Haruhi-verse and I like the version of Haruhi in this series, she's less abrasive than the Haruhi in the main series. It was pretty cool that the spinoff placed elements of the original series as well. The twist with Yuki's personality change was quite good in terms of what the other Yuki in her bond with Kyon and personally I wanted that side of her to win because she was more honest with her feelings. I hope with the upcoming completion of the Yuki Nagato spinoff manga, that there will be a second season made for the anime version, also the Yuki that is primarily shown becomes more honest with her feelings as the other one was.
This show was amazing! I honestly always saw things about it on the web or saw things about it, but never gave it a shot till not long ago and I'm so glad I did! :) Got to say my personality fits well with a lot of the characters so it made it easy to follow. The one thing I did not like about the show though was the major déjà vu factor :( ugh they did that too much. OVA was really great too and almost made me tear up at a part of it. Rewatch value: 10! Worth buying: oh yes!
It's just fine, funny to watch sometimes, but there are many episodes that seems too boring and complicated. specially when they repeat the sequence several times... This makes me feel bored and want to stop watching the whole series, but I still finished watching it disregarding the boring episodes... The ending is not too good, and I feel not satisfied, but its just fine that it finished that way..
This show is a solidly good anime and is in a genre all its own. I like the fact that you could watch in multiple orders and I'm probably going to go back and rewatch it in the other order. The series had me busting out laughing many times because of either Haruhi's absurd plans out of boredom or Kyon's "I dont give a f***" attitude." Overall, everyone should at least watch the first season and do not turn away from the series because of the first episode which will leave you saying "WTF".
This series didn't thrill me like all the hype I had read. :/ It was entertaining at parts... then other times it was just huh. Think this could have benefited from Haruhi not having such a short satisfaction with whatever she was doing, which also leads to such quick moves to something new.
In my honest opinion, this anime is not as great as people may seem to think because I can't say I enjoyed watching this anime. .__. This isn't worth my time and honestly I still don't understand why so many people like it. The story is so weird and the main character (Haruhi) is so annoying, she doesn’t even deserve all of the attention she is getting. The plot isn't all that interesting too. But besides that, the other characters were very likable, plus the art and animation are awesome.
It's a cool anime. I really like Nagato yukki from there her cool and composed character just adds to her charm. but in the second season the time loop was quite a patience tester. he-he!!!!! the movie was awesome.
This anime is so weird. I really don't understand why it's so popular. The characters are different, that's a given but I feel they lack context and the reason they give you for them being there it's just too... no. Anyway, it wasn't so bad but I wouldn't exactly said it was a great anime. Whoever who got through those "Endless Eight" episodes without skipping is to be praised.
Tsundere Moe Type Suzumiya Haruhi desu!!
I really like her personality, genki (cheerful), eccentric, freak, but outstanding. She's different. All the
matters on this series are related to her. It's about Suzumiya Haruhi! | unfortunately the second season not as
catchy as the first season =w=
I LOVE THIS ANIME!
Its so Funny you cant even picture it ! An original girl forms a club with a normal guy an esper, a time traveler and an
alien ;)
The story starts with Kyon as the narrator and the main protagonist of the series. He is a student, with whom Haruhi
willingly interacted. Even though Haruhi is the title character, the story is told through his viewpoint. Through
narration and dialogue, he provides his insight, perspective, and opinions on the series' events. He is both
straight-man and a source of sardonic humour! Kyon IS SUPER! Its like he says something that you know but when he says
it its even funnier!
While he's not afraid to stand up to a Haruhi tangent, he does exhibit a form of fear over her occasional
troublesome antics that could threaten expulsion or worse. Kyon is, in fact, a nickname. Kyon's real name is yet to
be revealed. SPOILER:(Jonh Smith)
I LOVE HARUHI SHE IS JUST GREAT!
I never thought I'd enjoy it as much as I did- but I was proven wrong. Haruhi makes you want to kill yourself though, at times. She can be an unlikable character and an annoying moron who abuses others, but the general idea of the plot is what drew many in and held them in place. The show is decent, and maybe not worth the hype, but it's enjoyable nonetheless.
The story is confusing and if I'm not mistaken, the lining up of episodes changes according to the narrator? Like WTF? o___O I got so tired of it basically lost interest in it. I'm not being mean here though.
Love it. It has no genre, but if I had to place it, I would say it's a slice-of-life/Romantic comedy. for a guy who usually watches horror, this was amazing, going into a different direction, and still liking it.
Music: 8/10 a little lacking, or I was just too busy watching
Characters: 9/10 great, but does fall into some stereotypes (or maybe Haruhi wanted it that way >.>)
Animation: 10/10 rating says it all
Story: 10/10 whats even more awesome, is that you can watch it in (almost) any order and still have it make sense.
Usually I hate that, but here is an exception.
Hm..first part was very funny but the rest..especially when one and almost the same episode was repeating again and
again...I thought I would go crazy! x_X
But nevertheless it is very interesting anime, it has it's own mystery. Even when you see that one and the same
episode keeps repeating, you still keep on watching it.)
