My absolute favorite of all five (at the time of writing this, that is)
There are a few glaring plotholes and things I personally would have liked to see expanded on but those are tiny little things in comparison to how bright the protag is and how much angst they wring out of him... the poor child.

It shows a different kind of main character compared to the other Yugioh series. Yuma is really young and sometimes kind of annoying, but after watching a few episodes you get to like him. I think that Kaito and Haruto are the most interesting characters so far in the series, they've showed an even stronger sibling bond than that of Rua and Ruka in 5Ds.
It's not as bad as you think, you should really give it a chance.

Being a huge fan of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters series, I kind of felt obliged to watch every series it proceeds. I decided to re-write this impression after watching the second episode of Yu-Gi-Oh! ZeXal. First of all, after finally knowing the final flow of the story, Astral, Yuma's spirit-ego (or whatever he should be called), similar to Yami Yugi, lost his memories. For Yugi, he has to complete all 7 millennium items and place all of them in Egypt. As for Yuma, he has to collect all 100 number cards to be able to recover Astral's memories. On the mare realization of this plot, I actually concluded that the story is a recreation of the original series but with better graphics, annoying characters, bad character design, a whole lot more comedy, an utterly un-good looking rival, some whole new rules && cards, an entirely different historical background for the monsters and a lighter story that can easily be grasp on with the same old theme: friendship, victory, teamwork and never giving up. Anyway, I was reading the comments on the second episode and I do have to agree with the one comment I read, it's really stupid that Yuma actually doesn
