The brains of the group, Hermione is also the one who prefers to analyze any situation before diving in, as opposed to the more action-driven Harry and Ron. She is an extremely talented witch, only encountering trouble with the Patronus Charm and when trying to ride a broomstick. Her proficiency in preparing potions is shown in "The Chamber of Secrets", when she prepares the complicated Polyjuice Potion.

Hermione is very proper and passionate about learning, often scolding the other two for not doing their homework on time, but still lending them her notes. In "Prisoner of Azkaban", she even secretly employs the aid of the Ministry of Magic in order to take on as many subjects as possible, but the toll this takes on her leads to her returning to a normal schedule.
