Lory Takarada's granddaughter. Because of a childhood trauma involving the death of her mother, Maria harbors a deep distrust of adults, who often demean her, lie and talk behind her back. She meets Kyoko and Kanae during the two's first audition to enter LME, when she purposefully creates trouble in order to prevent the play (which had a story similar to her life) from being enacted. After initial hardships, Maria discovers she has a lot in common with Kyoko - mostly her interest towards voodoo dolls, which she uses to chase off Ren's admirers — and gets to like Kyoko so much that she calls her "onee-chan" ("big sister").
