The only daughter of Queen Serenity, Princess Serenity lived in the Silver Millennium 1000 years before the start of the story. Her royal guard was comprised of Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter, Sailor Venus, and Sailor Mercury.

Despite her guardians being almost constantly near her, she still managed to repeatedly sneak out of the palace and visit Earth. During one of these visits, she spotted the ruler of the Earth Kingdom, Prince Endymion. The two fell in love, but their relationship ended tragically with the invasion of the Dark Kingdom, led by Queen Beryl under the influence of Queen Metallia.
