A meringue-based dessert made from a mixture of egg whites, granulated and confectionery sugar, almond powder or ground
almonds, and food coloring. Buttercream or jam are normally sandwiched between the two cookies.
Macarons
are characterized by a smooth, domed top; ruffled circumference (referred to as the "foot"); and flat base. They are
mildly moist and easily melt when consumed, and come in a variety of flavors.
